Play with Pilot V5 ink pens while illustrating unique trees of southeast Arizona! We’ll explore novel techniques, including drawing on cut brown paper bags and adding highlights with Sakura white gelly roll pens. Our subjects will include mesquite, desert willow, and palo verde trees.
Please provide your own art materials. Recommended art supplies:
-Sakura white gelly roll pen
-Pilot Precise V5 water soluble pen
-Size 10-12 round brush, soft-haired, taklon or other watercolor brush
-140 lb smooth hot press watercolor paper, or a smoother cold press such as Strathmore, cut 2-3 pieces that are 6×8 inches
-Rag or paper towels
-Cup for water
-Pencil and eraser of your choice
-2 brown paper bags such as grocery bag or lunch bag, cut 2-3 pieces out that are 6×8 inches
Saraiya Kanning is a Tucson artist with a passion for animal subjects. She works across multiple mediums, including ink, watercolor, and silk painting. Saraiya’s art is often characterized by bold, vibrant colors and stylized mark-making. When teaching, she seeks to make art enjoyable and accessible to all.
No refund will be issued less than 15 days prior to any Community Class. A $10 cancellation fee will be applied to all refunds. No refunds will be issued for special events. We reserve the right to cancel Community Classes due to insufficient registration, garden closure, or inclement weather, in which case, participants will receive a full refund. People with disabilities should make requests for accommodation as early as possible to allow time to make appropriate arrangements.
